World Day of Prayer – Friday, March 5

Mark your calendars for World Day of Prayer on Friday, March 5.  Sign up sheets are available at the front and back entrances of the church.  The church doors will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. for prayer in the sanctuary. Those unable to come to the church can pray at home. Sign up is appreciated but optional.

 

 

Parenting The Early Years

Join national parenting experts, Les and Leslie Parrott, in discussing the issues and principles of raising our children. Learn the 10 Biblical traits for which your kids will remember you. This learning group will include DVDs (with the Parrotts), discussion, and getting together with other parents. It is hosted by Pastor Cliff on Sunday mornings at 9:45 a.m. in Fellowship Hall.

 

 

Easter Flowers

It’s that time of year again – time to place your order for Easter flowers. Sign up sheets will be available at the front and back entrances to the church through March 28. The cost is $12.00 per plant. Please make checks payable to St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, and monies are due with orders. Please specify whether they are given in honor or in memory of loved ones. The last day to sign up is Sunday, March 28 in order for names to appear in the April 4 bulletin. We are requesting that Easter flowers be picked up following the 11:00 a.m. worship service on Sunday, April 4.

  

  

Lenten Bible Study Groups

Our Lenten Bible study groups have begun. These are short-term, easy-to-use Bible studies. If you have not taken part in the past, let this be the year that you try one. Sign up sheets are available at the front and back entrances to the church. Choose from the following:

Mondays at 7:00 p.m., hosted by Mike and Sue Mann at 419 Park Avenue, beginning February 22.

Tuesdays at 6:45 p.m., hosted by Bonnie Ford in the Adult Meeting Room, beginning February 23.

Wednesdays at 6:30 a.m., hosted by Marty Cook in Fellowship Hall, beginning February 24.

Wednesdays at 8:30 a.m., hosted by Bev McConnell in Fellowship Hall, beginning February 24. 

 

  

Spring Ahead with Slinkies

What better way to remember to set your clocks ahead than with Slinky races! Come to Sunday school on March 14 when we will have Slinky races down the stairs. We will gather for this event in the narthex after the opening program. 

Note:  Remember to turn your clocks ahead one hour on Saturday night!

  

  

Men’s Ministry Dinner Meeting

Tuesday, March 16

The St. Paul’s Men’s Ministry will meet on Tuesday, March 16, at 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall for their monthly dinner meeting. The meeting will include dinner, a devotional, activities, and a discussion on the contributions the group can make to St. Paul’s Church and other Christians/ organizations in need. The menu this month will consist of a venison burgundy roast, rice, salad, and dessert. All men are welcome to attend.

 

 

Palm Sunday Worship

March 28

Join us in worship at either 8:30 or 11:00 a.m. to celebrate the beginning of Holy Week with “Holy Week Reflections” featuring the St. Paul Worship Choir and the Handbell Choir. 

 

 

 

Maundy Thursday Worship

April 1, 7:30 p.m.

Take part in a meditative worship service that includes communion and a selection by the St. Paul’s Worship Choir.

 

 

Good Friday Community Worship

April 2

Join fellow believers from the community to honor Jesus’ death for our sakes. The service will take place at the Laurel Springs Baptist Church (35 Madison Avenue) on April 2 from 12:00 noon – 3:00 p.m. Pastor Cliff (1:20 p.m.) and David Verduin (1:40 p.m.) will lead two of the worship segments.

 

 

Easter Eggstravaganza

Saturday, April 3, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Come out to Fellowship Hall and enjoy the clowns, games, egg hunt, food, prizes, and fun! We will make Easter bonnets for girls and cowboy hats for boys. Invite a friend! If anyone is interested in providing cupcakes or cookies for this event, please sign up on the sheets available at the front and back entrances to the church.  

 

 

MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers)

MOPS meets in Fellowship Hall from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. on the first and third Thursdays of the month.  Join us as we explore, “Life on Planet Mom.” MOPS is an international group designed to nurture mothers of young children ages birth through kindergarten. MOPS Craft Nights

MOPS also hosts Craft Nights on the first Friday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the “Red House” – 419 Park Avenue. Everyone is welcome. Bring a craft to work on, and enjoy fellowship with other moms. Ranch Hope Bus Trip – 2010 Cherry Blossom Festival

The Ranch Hope Auxiliary will host a bus trip to Mt. Vernon and Washington DC on Wednesday, April 7. Spend the morning touring Mount Vernon, home of George Washington, followed by lunch at the Mout Vernon Inn (included in package). Then, spend the afternoon on a two-hour narrated tour of Washington DC. The day begins at 7:30 a.m. at the AAA South Jersey office in Voorhees, NJ (located across the street from the Flyers’ Skate Zone). Cost is $120 per person. Proceeds to benefit Ranch Hope. Annual Married Couples Retreat

The 27th Annual St. Paul’s Married Couples Retreat is scheduled at the Willow Valley Family Resort and Conference Center for Friday, April 22 – Sunday, April 24, 2010. Back by popular demand of last year’s attendees is the Reverend Dr. Robb Palmer and his wife, Ginger. The topic theme for the event is, “Making Marriage Work.” The cost will be the same as last year, $360.00. Registration forms are available at the front and back entrances to the church.

 

 

Sophia K. Reeves Scholarship Applications

These scholarships for high school seniors planning to attend college this fall are made available to worthy persons of good character and the Protestant faith. The criteria upon which recipients are selected include need, academic achievement, self motivation and participation in school and community activities. Applications are available in the church office.  An instruction sheet is provided with the application.  All applications must be fully completed and returned postmarked by Friday, March 12, 2010.
